A Personal Vision
For the organization’s founder, personal encounters with veterans experiencing homelessness in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area brought the urgent need for safe, stable housing into sharp focus. Hearing their stories and witnessing the challenges they faced resonated personally, especially given her family’s own military experience. These experiences strengthened her commitment to honoring those who have served and ensuring that veterans have the dignity, stability, and support they deserve.
Our Mission and Approach
Where Shelter Becomes a Foundation for a New Life
Our mission is to support veterans experiencing homelessness through transitional housing that offers dignity, everyday stability, and a sense of belonging.
We recognize that housing instability cannot be addressed by four walls alone. The home we envision combines essential living conditions with a supportive household and assistance connecting with resources outside the home.
Medical treatment, mental health services, and counseling would remain with qualified outside providers. SOLACE’s role is to support residents in accessing those services when needed.
